Summer is officially here and we want to give you a few tips to help you stay healthy and beat the heat.
- Stay Hydrated: In the heat your body tends to lose more water leading to dehydration. Our bodies need at least 8 glasses of water to stay hydrated per day but in the summer the number is closer to 10. A healthy way to add water to your daily routine is eating fruits like watermelon and strawberries, and staying away from caffeine’s which dehydrates you.
- Turn off your appliances: Having the oven on will add extra heat to your home. Instead of using the dryer, hang clothes outside and hand wash dishes instead of using the dishwasher. All those appliances add extra heat to your home.
- Put up sun blockers: Have blinds or curtains over your windows to prevent the direct sun light from shining right through the windows. According to the U.S department of energy you can reduce the amount of heat that passes into your home by as much as 45 percent.
Family Best Care wishes you a happy and healthy summer along with a Happy Fourth of July!
