When 24/7 Care May Be Right

When Being Alone Is No Longer the Right Plan

24/7 care may be appropriate when someone needs frequent assistance, supervision, or reassurance across both daytime and overnight hours.

The need for continuous support often develops gradually. Families may notice that assistance is needed more frequently, overnight routines are becoming harder, or periods alone no longer feel safe or sustainable.

Personal care, mobility, transfers, or toileting assistance is needed throughout the day and night.
Memory loss, confusion, wandering, or fall risk makes periods alone increasingly concerning.
Someone is returning home after hospitalization or rehabilitation and needs continuous non-medical support.
Family caregivers can no longer safely or sustainably maintain an around-the-clock schedule.
Additional comfort and daily support are needed alongside hospice care.
How Coverage Works

24/7 Care and Live-In Care: How Our Model Works

Families often use “live-in care” to describe having someone in the home around the clock. At Family Best Care, continuous coverage is provided through two coordinated 12-hour caregiver shifts.

Day Coverage

12-Hour Day Shift

One caregiver supports the client during daytime hours while following the same nurse-informed care plan, routines, preferences, and safety guidance.

Overnight Coverage

12-Hour Overnight Shift

A second caregiver provides overnight support and continuity, following the same care plan and client-specific guidance.

Our office coordinates the schedule, caregiver communication, and changes in care. This structure provides continuous support without relying on one person to remain on duty 24 hours a day.

Support Throughout the Day and Night

What 24/7 Care Can Include

Every care plan is personalized. Depending on the client’s needs, caregivers may assist with:

Bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene
Mobility, transfers, positioning, and fall-risk support
Meal preparation, feeding, and hydration
Medication reminders
Companionship, reassurance, and supervision
Overnight routines and assistance
Light housekeeping, laundry, and household routines
Transportation, appointments, and essential errands

Family Best Care provides non-medical home care and can work alongside hospice, nursing, and other clinical providers involved in the client’s care.

Continuity and Accountability

A Familiar Team With an Office Behind It

24/7 care should not feel like a revolving door of unfamiliar faces. We work to build a small, consistent caregiver team and prepare each caregiver to follow the same routines, preferences, and care plan.

Support Beyond the Shift

Behind that team is an office coordinating schedules, supporting communication, and responding as needs change.

If a scheduled caregiver becomes unavailable, our office coordinates communication and works to identify a qualified replacement who can follow the care plan. The client or family is kept informed while coverage is being addressed.

How Care Begins

From the First Conversation to Continuous Coverage

You do not need to know the exact schedule or have every detail figured out. We will help you work through it.

01

Tell Us What’s Happening

Our care team learns where care is needed, when support may begin, and what kind of assistance is being considered.

02

Complete the Complimentary Nurse Assessment

We ask for dates and times that fit your schedule, then coordinate the nurse’s visit to understand the client’s needs, routines, abilities, preferences, and safety considerations.

03

Prepare the Caregiver Team

We finalize the care plan, confirm the schedule and current availability, prepare the caregiver team, and confirm the start of care.

When care is urgent, several steps can move forward at the same time, allowing care to begin within hours.
